It was such a dumb movie, but it has a place in my heart, since I watched it so many times growing up. It seems odd that Walt would green-light such a ridiculous script, but maybe he thought that by casting the kids from Mary Poppins, he could make it a hit.
The best thing about the movie? The gnome-mobile itself. It was a 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II.

No but that reminded me of Snowball Express, one of my childhood favorites.

Oh wow, not sure I've even heard of that one!
Disney made a lot of obscure films in its early days of live-action movies.

Gus, The Shaggy D.A., Apple Dumpling Gang, Cat from Outer Space... and another one that kind of scared me but I liked it was The Black Hole.

Never seen it. Never even heard of it, actually. The boy, Matthew Garber, died in 1977 at the age of 21 after contracting hepatitis while in India the previous year.

I refuse to watch that movie to this day because of how frightened it made me as a child. That fucking robot with the spinning arms is terrifying.
The Cat From Outerspace is a great film.

I remember reading that once. Quite sad. But it's great that Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, Karen Dotrice, and also Glynis Johns (who played Mrs. Banks) are all still going strong!

That Cylon-like robot was terrifying to 7 year old me.

Yes, not ashamed to admit I do. Watched it all the damn time as a kid, we never owned a copy, but it was probably in our house almost as much as the video store. The Rolls was the main attraction, of course. And final chase scene where the Cadillac falls apart off road.
